HMV PROMOTION RUNNING ONLINE AND IN-STORES

HMV North America, its online counterpart HMV.com, EMI Music and Amplified.com have teamed up in a new promotion. Fans of the British pop-rock group SuperGrass will get five bonus tracks free when they purchase the group's new album online or in-stores. Four thousand copies of the album will include an insert with a web site address and a PIN number. The address takes fans to an Amplified.com site where they can enter the PIN number and download the bonus tracks. The downloaded songs can be kept by customers indefinitely, but each PIN number allows one download only. Andrew Pollock, vice president of marketing for HMV North America, said a national television campaign ran prior to the April 4 release of the album promoting the release as well as the bonus music. Additional promotion includes in-store materials in all 97 HMV stores across Canada as well as online at HMV.com. Public and media relations are being handled by Strategic Objectives of Toronto.
