NMB EXTRAS DATE MOVED

The Newspaper Marketing Bureau's Extras Committee has decided to move the annual event from its usual date of October 1995 to April 1996. The Extras, which have been recognizing excellence in daily newspaper advertising since 1989, are presented in Toronto each year. The move was made so the event will coincide with newspaper week, when many other events take place, including the Canadian Daily Newspaper Association Annual Meeting, the Canadian Press Dinner, the National Newspaper Awards and the Newspaper Marketing Bureau Annual Meeting. Members of the Extras Committee are hoping that the timing will raise the profile of the awards among senior newspaper executives. The change in date means no awards will be presented in 1995, but the qualification period for next year's event has been extended to include entries from July of 1994 to December 1995.
