MINISTRY OF ENERGY, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY LIGHTING THE WAY FOR ONTARIO CONSUMERS
By Adnews Staff
In preparation for the opening of the electricity market, the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology is launching a new consumer education campaign. Starting next month, licensed electricity retailers can begin contacting potential customers to offer them electricity and related services when the competitive market opens in November. The Ministry is launching the campaign to prepare customers for retail competition. Radio commercials running on 119 English and French radio stations began Monday and will continue to run until the end of March. Print ads in 43 Ontario daily newspapers and 157 community newspapers will begin tomorrow, also running until the end of March. A toll-free 1-888 number set up by the ministry for electricity customer inquiries is displayed in all advertising and education materials including a 12-page brochure, a series of eight fact sheets and a smaller brochure to be included with utility bill statements. The campaign, from Toronto-based MACPHEE + Partners Inc., will also include additional activities in the summer and fall.
