THIS BUD'S FOR PJ DDB DOWNTOWN

Palmer Jarvis DDB is branching out with the creation of a new ad and branding division called PJ DDB Downtown. The new division will be handling the Budweiser and Bud Light accounts for Labatt Breweries of Canada. Toronto-based PJ BBD won the accounts at the end of October following Bozell Worldwide Canada's resignation due to a client conflict. Bozell's parent company in the U.S. merged the agency with its sister company Harrod & Mirlin/FCB, which handled advertising for Coors Canada. The new division will operate as a stand-alone unit within PJ DDB's Toronto office. According to Frank Palmer, president and CEO of PJ DDB, "the new division will provide full creative and planning strategy for Labatt with a separate team of account planning, account servicing, media and creative specialists". The division will be headed up by Bob Shanks as senior vice president, managing director. Shanks comes to the division with 21 years of advertising experience most recently at Cossette Communications Group. In addition, five former Bud veterans join the new team including: Peter Burke, as senior vice president, media director, Dan Pawych, as associate creative director, David Daga, as senior writer, Jeff Plowman, as vice president, account director, Jef Combdon, as media group head and Tim Binkley, as account supervisor. The new division will also be available as a resource for both existing and new clients of Palmer Jarvis and the DDB network itself.
