EDMONTON TOURISM PUSH

The Greater Edmonton Visitors & Convention Association is trying to boost tourism in the city. The organization launched a campaign this month highlighting the sights in the city, using newspaper, magazine and TV created by Tanner Young Marketing of Edmonton. In addition, tourists can pick up booklets at visitor information centres around the city that offer discounts on Edmonton attractions. The campaign mainly targets Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia, but the TV portion reaches across Canada through ITV of Edmonton. The ads also carry a 1-800 number so those interested in visiting the provincial capital can call to get more information. Organizations sponsoring the campaign are: Northlands Park, West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton Parks & Recreation, Alberta Tourism and Economic Development Edmonton. The cost of the campaign is just over $226,000.
