FUTURESHOP.CA IS GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE, SOLD ON BID.COM

One week after announcing it had signed promotional agreements with a number of Canadian news Web sites, search engines and destination portals, Futureshop.ca of Vancouver is stepping up marketing initiatives for its online retail store. Futureshop.ca has signed an agreement with bid.com to see the establishment of a Future Shop branded sub-site on bid.com's online auction site. Through the branded sub-site, Future Shop will auction new, factory-fresh clearance products, such as models recently discontinued by manufacturers. All Future Shop policies related to service and warranties will apply to the products offered on bid.com. The agreement with bid.com is part of futureshop.ca's overall marketing strategy to raise awareness of the site, said Michael DeSandoli, vice president of e-commerce for Future Shop. He added, "An important part of our e-commerce success is to forge partnerships with other strong e-commerce players like bid.com." Future Shop is a consumer electronics, computer, home appliances and entertainment retailer with 83 stores across Canada. PR for Future Shop is done by Shandwick Canada of Vancouver.
