AUTOBYTEL.CA HITS THE OPEN ROAD
By Adnews Staff
Autobytel.ca, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Irvine, California-based Autobytel.com, is launching a new advertising campaign promoting the freedom and control of buying a new car through its service. Autobytel.ca is a national Internet-based purchasing program for new vehicles in Canada. The new advertising campaign, called "Open Road", includes television spots that will appear on specialty channels such as TSN, Showcase, The Comedy Network, CBC Newsworld, Discovery and Space. The commercials are designed to demonstrate a different kind of car-buying experience for people who are ready to buy any make or model of car. The spots were created by Grey Advertising of New York and the media buy was handled by Retail Media Inc. of Toronto. As part of the campaign, Canadians will have a chance to win a new 1999 Ford Mustang convertible similar to the car featured in the television commercials, as well as one of two laptop computers or one of several other prizes, through the Autobytel.ca website. The promotion runs through August 1999 and was created in conjunction with Webstakes.com, which specializes in online sweepstakes promotions.
