R.O.B. TV MAKES IT DEBUT

WIC Western International Communications Ltd. of Vancouver is preparing for the September 1 launch of its new specialty channel in partnership with The Globe & Mail and Canadian Satellite Communications. The channel, called R.O.B. TV (Report on Business Television), will focus on business, finance and economics, with an emphasis on Canadian news. According to Stephen Petherbridge, publisher of the Globe & Mail's Report on Business magazine, the show will feature hard news during the business day and "smart talk and advice shows" in the evening with a focus on investment and personal finance. Promotional plans for the launch are being discussed now but nothing has been confirmed. WIC owns 26 percent of Report on Business, Canadian Satellite Communications owns 24 percent and the Globe & Mail owns the other 50 percent.
