CFMT AND DEPT. OF CANADIAN HERITAGE LAUNCH MULTILINGUAL PSA

CFMT-TV of Toronto and the Department of Canadian Heritage have launched a new multilingual public service announcement called "Violence Hurts Us All." The 30-second spot, created in-house by CFMT, was produced in the two official languages and 14 other key languages including: Arabic, Cantonese, Greek, Italian, Polish, Punjabi and Spanish. The new PSA is designed to raise awareness of family violence in ethnic and visible minority communities and is part of the Multiculturalism Program's Family Violence Strategy announced last October. The program is allocated $215,000 each year through a federal Family Violence Initiative to raise awareness of family violence issues. CFMT and other major ethnic television broadcasters and networks have offered free PSA air-time.
