UPS SENDS CUSTOMERS TO THE OLYMPICS

United Parcel Service Canada of Mississauga, Ont. will be packing people off to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. The company has a promotion running until Nov. 30 designed to raise awareness of its Olympic sponsorship and its variety of express services. Express service users are automatically entered in a draw for a trip for two to the Olympics. They also earn one point with each Express shipment in Canada, two for a shipment to the U.S. and three for using the Worldwide Express, Early A.M. or Next-Flight-Out service. Points can be redeemed for a Canadian Olympic team overnight bag or sweatshirt, or a Panasonic Personal Stereo. Direct mail promoting the program, from Ogilvy & Mather Direct in Toronto, began in late September. Separately, UPS launched a Canadian TV campaign in late September to support its sponsorship of the Olympics. The ad was created by the Toronto office of Ammirati & Puris/Lintas. UPS of Atlanta, Georgia is an official worldwide sponsor of the 1996 Olympic games.
