Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. has announced it has acquired two Calgary radio stations from RAWLCO Communications Ltd. The two stations acquired are CKIS-FM and CFFR-AM. Financial details of the transactions were not disclosed and the sale is subject to approval from the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission. "With this acquisition, we've now achieved our objective of increasing our presence in four key markets: Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa and Calgary," Rogers president and CEO Tony Viner said. CRTC changes in 1998 allow multiple ownership of 2 AM/2 FM stations in one market. RAWLCO will continue to operate their stations until CRTC approval is granted. Rogers has applied for eight additional stations in Smiths Falls, Ottawa, Toronto, Chilliwack, Hope and Abbotsford subject to CRTC approval.
