CABLE SYSTEM SWAP IN SASKATCHEWAN

Edmonton-based Regional Cable TV (Western) Inc. has struck a deal to acquire all the cable television assets of Image Cable Systems Ltd., based in Yorkton, SK. Regional Western is a subsidiary of St. John's, NF-based Regional Cablesystems Inc. Image provides cable service to about 20,000 customers in 50 communities across southeastern Saskatchewan. "The acquisition of these 50 cable properties is extremely strategic to Regional's growth plans in Western Canada," said Regional Western's general manager, Fred Hosker. "This acquisition will increase Western's subscriber base to over 70,000 and will enhance our overall operating efficiencies as these newly acquired systems perfectly cluster with Western's existing 133 systems in Saskatchewan." With this addition, Regional Cable will provide service to over 250,000 customers in 1000 locations across Canada. Regional specializes in operating cable TV systems in non-metropolitan markets.
