ELECTRONIC ADS FOR SPORTING EVENTS
By Adnews Staff
Sports viewers could be seeing individualized ads imposed on their TV screens by the end of the year, through a new digital system being developed by Princeton Electronics Billboard of Princeton, New Jersey. Space for these "electronic signs" can be sold to many advertisers for the same event. For example, the space on the fence behind a tennis player could be bought by a number of companies, so that the ads that are shown vary in different countries. The system can have ads inserted into live action. For example, under a foul ball as it flies through the air during a baseball game. Seidel Technologies Ltd. of Israel is also getting into the electronic ad business. Seidel flashes signs and corporate logos on playing surfaces such as arena floors or the doubles alleys of tennis courts.
