By Adnews Staff
Manulife Bank of Canada of Toronto, a wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife Financial, has joined the Interac Association and launched a fully operational banking card system this week. The Interac Association is the organization that administers Canada's national network of shared electronic financial services, including automated banking machines. Manulife Bank will issue access cards that will allow cash withdrawals at automated banking machines or direct payment purchases at retailers worldwide that display the Interac, Cirrus or Maestro symbols. The card will be sent to customers who have bank accounts or lines of credit with Manulife. Manulife Financial created the Manulife Bank of Canada on Jan. 1, 1993 through the merger of three trust companies, Cabot Trust, Huronia Trust and Regional Trust. Advertising for Manulife Bank of Canada is done in-house.
