CANON UNVEILS DIGITAL CAMCORDER/STILL CAMERA

U.S.-based Canon Inc. will introduce a new digital camcorder to the North American market in April. Called the Elura, the camcorder works as a digital still camera and a video camcorder. It has three shooting modes: video, photo and Progressive Scan Digital Motor Drive, which enables users to extract full frame stills from fast-past action shots. Other features include a 12X optical zoom lens, Canon's stabilization system and it records 30 frames per second. The Elura weighs two pounds and is about the size of a paperback book. In Canada, the camcorder will be promoted using print ads created by Lackey Communications of Mississauga, Ont.
