NINTENDO INVITES ALL TO EAT, DRINK AND BE MARIO

Vancouver-based Nintendo Canada is organizing a big party. The company will launch the Mario Party video game this week. The game is a cartridge that combines 50 mini-games into one family board game featuring a cast of video game characters including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Wario and Yoshi. The game allows players to pick their favourite character and travel around a video board game, rolling a dice to determine how many spaces to move and playing mini-games in an effort to collect the most stars. In addition to colorful graphics, intricate environments and visual effects, each Nintendo character has animation sequences that are displayed when they either win or lose a game. Targeted to tweens, promotion of Mario Party will be done using an English only national TV commercial, as well as a French and English print ad in Kids Tribute Magazine. The campaign was created by Leo Burnett Co. of Chicago. The media buy was handled by the agency's Toronto office. PR for Nintendo in Canada is done by GCI Group of Toronto.
