NATIONAL POST REPORTS ON FIRST THREE MONTHS

The National Post, which began publishing in October 1998, has reported its first circulation and readership results based on the first twelve weeks of operation. According to results, the Post has a 6-day average paid readership of 272,778. In addition, the paper is the market leader in seven major markets outside the Toronto area according to an Angus Reid study of 2,600 interviews conducted in December 1998. The survey cited several factors contributing to readers reported competitive strengths for National Post, including more national and regional coverage a more "reader-friendly" orientation, better color and graphics and superior layout and design. National Post is published by Southam Inc. It publishes 33 daily newspapers coast-to-coast across Canada.
