BARTERPLUS CHANGES NAME AND OWNERSHIP

Australia-based Bartercard International has bought a 10% stake in BarterPlus of Toronto. Under the deal, BarterPlus will be renamed Bartercard Canada, and it will be able to offer its Canadian members access to over 20,000 establishments around the world. Over the next five years, Bartercard Canada plans to open 30 corporate and franchise-owned offices across Canada. Currently it has offices in Toronto, Alberta and British Columbia. Bartercard International plans to expand into Belgium and Malaysia next year, as well as into the U.S. sometime in the future. Bartercard Canada was founded in 1990. It has over 2,500 small business members from such sectors as manufacturing, wholesale/retail, finance and property, building/construction, communications, transport, agriculture, primary resources, as well as travel and tourism.
