AVENTURE ELECTRONIQUE GOES BANKRUPT

Aventure Electronique of Montreal has gone bankrupt. All of the stores closed on Nov. 16 and receiver and trustee Ernst & Young took possession of all the company's stores and assets the same day. Aventure operated 143 stores, 85 in Quebec and 58 in Ontario. In Quebec, the stores operated under the banners: Aventure Electronique, Supermagasins and Maxi-boutiques. In Ontario, the stores operated under the name Adventure Electronics. Advertising for Aventure was handled in-house. The main creditors for the chain are: the Bank of Nova Scotia, Sony Canada, Sharp Electronics, Sanyo Canada, Beamscope Canada and J.V.C Canada.
