BANKS PROMOTE MERGER BENEFITS
By Adnews Staff
The Bank of Montreal and the Royal Bank of Canada want to let Canadians in on the benefits of the duo's planned merger. The two launched a national newspaper campaign this week that tells consumers that the Bank of Montreal and the Royal Bank plan on building a better bank. The benefits touted in the ads include lower service charges, an increase in the number of qualified staff, a new bank for small and medium-sized businesses, continued service in rural Canada and increased branch access. The ads also promote a new booklet that discusses details about the merger and its benefits. The booklet is available at branches of both banks, through a toll-free phone number or on the Internet at <http://www.proposedmerger.com>. The campaign was created by the agencies for both banks: Vickers & Benson Advertising and MacLaren McCann, both of Toronto. Initiative Media and MaxxMedia, both of Toronto handled the media portion of the campaign.
