IBM TARGETS BUSINESSES WITH NEW THINKPADS

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. introduced a new line of ThinkPad notebook computers to the North American market this week. Called the ThinkPad 390 Series, the line consists of three computers geared to small and medium-sized businesses. The machines feature an upgradeable hard drive of either 3.2 gigabytes or 4.3GB, and up to a 14.1-inch color screen. The UltraBay FX supports user-swappable components including a second battery to boost running time for up to eight hours, and provides up to 10.7GB of storage with an optional 6.4GB hard drive installed in the UltraBay. In Canada, advertising plans for the new ThinkPad computers are under review. Canadian advertising for IBM is handled by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto.
