WRIGLEY PROMOTES CHEAP GUM

Toronto-based Wrigley Canada is reliving the 1980s. The company dropped the prices on some of its chewing gum earlier this year and launched a campaign this week to promote the new price. The campaign uses interior transit ads, in-store materials and PR. The ads and point-of-purchase materials were created by BBDO Canada of Toronto, while Generatorideaworks of Toronto is handling PR. Wrigley dropped the prices last spring on its Spearmint, Juicy Fruit, Big Red and Doublemint gum to 35-cents for a five-stick package. The last time Wrigley gum cost 35-cents was in 1984.
