IBM ADDS MACHINE TO APTIVA LINE

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. will introduce a new Aptiva desktop computer to the North American market in mid-November. Called the Aptiva E Series D1N, the machine will be geared to the first time PC buyer or consumers looking for a second PC. The Aptiva E Series D1N will feature an IBM 300 Performance Rated MMX processor, 32MB expandable to 256MB, a 3.2 gigabyte hard drive, a 32X CD-ROM drive and a slim, compact design. It will also offer a choice of browsers and Internet service providers, a 56K modem and Lotus SmartSuite. In Canada, advertising plans for the Aptiva E Series D1N are currently being developed. Canadian advertising for the computer maker is created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto.
