COGECO AND REGIONAL SWAP CABLE SYSTEMS
By Adnews Staff
Cogeco Cable of Montreal and Regional Cablesystems of Edmonton have done a cable system swap. Under the deal, Cogeco will acquire Regional's systems in Southern Ontario and Regional will get Cogeco's systems in Eastern Ontario. Cogeco will gain 2,310 subscribers in Bath, Smithville, Douglastown, Oil Spring-Oil City, Courtright-Mooretown, Wheatley, Colchester-Harrow, McGregor and Puce. Regional will gain 3,460 customers in Alfred-Plantagenet, Bourget-Clarence Creek, St. Isadore, Limoges, Alexandria and Maxville. The agreement is still subject to approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. The deal is part of Regional's plan to grow its cable business in Canada's non-urban market. Over the past couple of months, it has bought cable systems in Alberta and Newfoundland.
