MANCHU WOK TARGETS KIDS
By Adnews Staff
Manchu Wok of Markham, Ont. will target children with its latest promotion beginning next month. Called the First Annual Kids Meal Promotion, the event will run in the Chinese food chain's Canadian and U.S. restaurants. Children aged 12 and under will be able to enter a contest to name Manchu Wok's mascot, the dragon. The dragon is part of the Chinese culture and is associated with royalty and the ancient Chinese emperor. Each of the stores in Canada and the U.S. will draw a name for the dragon mascot at random. The winners will receive a set of Gund stuffed dragons. All submissions will then be entered into a North American draw which will be held in January. The grand prize winner will receive a Sony PlayStation and $300 worth of video games. The contest will be promoted using in-store materials created by Interface Marketing Group of Toronto. The Communications Group of Toronto is handling PR. During the three-week promotion, Manchu Wok will offer its first kids meal for children aged 12 and under. The meal will consist of dragon shaped chicken nuggets, served with french fries or noodles and a soft drink. If the kids' meal sells well, the chain will keep it on as a regular menu item.
