GROUPACTION EXPANDS NETWORK

Montreal-based Groupaction Marketing Inc. has bought Gosselin et Associes Communications strategiques Inc. Under the deal, Gosselin will remain as an independent operation with more diversified services such as Internet services. The deal will give Groupaction a presence in Ottawa and Quebec City. Groupaction president Jean Brault says in a release that the acquisition will help the agency facilitate closer relationships with existing clients and is the first step towards a national expansion. Gosselin executive vice-president Wendy Cumming will be given the additional title of general manager for the Ottawa office. Gosselin Quebec region vice-president Bernard Thiboutot will also hold the title of general manager of the Quebec City office. Groupaction is a full-service agency and is a member of the J. Walter Thompson network of agencies. Gosselin is a Canadian-owned full-service agency.
