PET VALU EXPANDS

Pet Valu Canada of Markham, Ont. has added 11 stores to its chain of pet food outlets. The company has bought All Pet Enterprises Ltd. of Ottawa, which operates 11 franchises and company-owned pet food, supply and grooming specialty stores in the Ottawa area. The stores operated under two names: Pet Food Plus and Groomingdale's. Most of the stores offer grooming services and some sell fish and small animals. Following the acquisition, Pet Valu will operates 390 company-owned and franchised pet food and supply specialty stores in North America. In addition, All Pet will continue to operate under its current name. Advertising for both companies is handled in-house. This is the second purchase Pet Valu has made this year. In March, the company bought Paulmac's of Peterborough, Ont., adding another 55 Ontario stores to Pet Valu's chain.
