MARKETEL WINS TOURISME QUEBEC BUSINESS
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Marketel will be handling advertising for Tourisme Quebec's Summer Pleasure Tourism program for up to five years. The agency won the business after a competition with five other Montreal agencies: Publicite Martin, Cossette Communication-Marketing, BOS, PALM and St.-Jacques Vallee Young & Rubicam. Marketel will be responsible for promoting the province's summer activities in North America and overseas. The budget for the one-year contract is $3.4 million. It includes a renewal option for four consecutive one-year terms, giving it a $17 million five-year budget which could be matched by Tourisme Quebec's partners. The Summer Pleasure Tourism program accounts for 45% of Tourisme Quebec's budget.
Separately, BOS was chosen to handle Quebec's winter tourism activities in North America and overseas, while PALM will promote tourism within the province. The incumbents on the Tourisme Quebec account were Publicite Martin, Cossette and BOS.
