AMNESTY TO USE TV TO GAIN MEMBERSHIP AND FUNDS

Amnesty International wants to show Canadians the pain and horror political prisoners go through in other countries. The organization will launch a direct-response TV program in November to tell the stories of individuals around the world that are imprisoned, tortured and abused for their beliefs. The goal of the ad is to raise money for Amnesty International and to increase membership in the organization. The TV program will be up to 60-minutes in length, and there will be a few two-minute ads as well. Eagle-Com of Toronto was hired recently to handle the campaign. The agency was hired after Amnesty International interviewed an undisclosed number of agencies. Eagle-Com specializes in helping charitable organizations acquire new donors, as well as raise funds and awareness. Its client list includes the World Wildlife Fund, Foster Parents Plan, Toronto Humane Society, Easter Seals Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Greenpeace and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
