CASTROL MOVES IN WITH ONE AGENCY

Toronto-based Castrol Canada has consolidated its advertising with Griffin Bacal Volny of Toronto. The agency recently won the consumer portion of the Castrol business without a review. It has been working on Castrol's trade business for two years, handling sales promotions, trade advertising and PR. Until now, Castrol would hire agencies on a project basis to create consumer ads, while Optimedia of Toronto would handle media buying. In addition, the oil company would adapt international ads for the Canadian market. Castrol spent about $2 million on advertising in 1997, primarily on television, with some in consumer publications. Castrol sells automobile oil to consumers and the car after market.
