MACLAREN SCOOPS NEW DAILY NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT

Toronto-based Southam Inc. took another step in launching its new national daily newspaper this fall. The publishing company has hired MacLaren McCann of Toronto to handle the ad account for the yet-to-be-named newspaper. The agency's media division, Initiative Media of Toronto, will do media placement and buying. The agency won the business after a competition with three other Toronto agencies: BBDO Canada, TBWA/Chiat Day and Palmer Jarvis DDB. "MacLaren McCann made an outstanding presentation," sales and marketing senior vice-president Ron Clark says in a release. "They're very deep in creative, strategic and media talent."
