FILLING THE TANK DIDN’T DRAIN THE POCKET

In an effort to thwart what the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute calls a misconception, the CPPI has released statistics on gas prices over the Victoria Day long weekend. According to CPPI, the average price for a litre of regular gasoline in Toronto actually went down this past weekend. On May 12 and May 13, gas prices averaged 53.2 to 53.7 cents per litre. On the weekend, consumers paid about two cents less per litre at the pumps with an average of 51.2 to 51.5 cents per litre. Not too long ago, the CPPI sent out a pamphlet which was distributed in some newspapers which featured a “question and answer” section which was intended to clarify some of the questions consumers have about gas prices.
