GRIFFITHS STEPS DOWN FROM WIC BOARD

The Griffiths family has sold its controlling interest in Vancouver-based WIC Western International Communications and two members have resigned from the company's board of directors. Mary Priebe, daughter of founder Frank Griffiths, and her husband Klaus Priebe stepped down as directors on the weekend. They were replaced by Wendy Leaney and Garth Olmstead. Last Friday, the Allard family of Edmonton bought 49.9% of WIC's class A voting shares. Shaw Cable now owns 41.2%. The balance of the company is owned by Cathton Holding Ltd. The Allard family has the option to increase its interest to 50%. WIC is a communications, entertainment and broadcast company. Its broadcast division owns nine TV and 12 radio stations, as well as pay TV and subscription services.
