SEARS TARGETS FEMALE BASKETBALL FANS

Toronto-based Sears Canada is targeting women in its latest promotion for its Toronto Raptors NBA sponsorship. The week-long promotion begins today and includes 14 Toronto-area Sears stores. Customers who visit the cosmetic counters at those stores will be eligible to win tickets to a Raptors game. The contest will be promoted using transit and newspaper ads, in-store signs and in-arena announcements. The campaign was created in-house. Sears has been a sponsor of the Raptors for a year. The retailer says that over 40% of the audience at a Raptors game are women. Until now, Sears targeted children in its Raptor promotions.
