ICO HANDS PR BUSINESS TO COHN & WOLFE

ICO Global Communications of London, England plans to introduce its global mobile satellite communications service in Canada by the year 2000, and hired a PR agency late last month to help promote it. Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto won the business after a competition with Fleishman Hillard of Toronto. Separately, ICO has appointed Joseph Tedino as North American communications director. Most recently he was corporate communications director for Washington-based Mobile Communications Holding, Inc. At ICO, Tedino will be based in the company's North American regional office in Washington, D.C. ICO was established in January 1995 as a private company to provide global mobile personal communications services by satellite including: digital voice, data, fax and messaging services. It will begin full operation in the year 2000. Users will include business, industry and government organizations, mining, transportation, aeronautical, maritime, media and other specialist sections, as well as residents of rural and remote areas lacking adequate local communications.
