LOOK TV RECEIVES OK FOR QUEBEC

Look TV of Milton, Ont. has been granted a license by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to operate a wireless digital TV broadcast distribution service in Eastern Ontario and Quebec called Multipoint Distribution System. The company will launch the service by the end of the year. The license covers the National Capital Region, the Laurentians, Montreal, Joliette, Trois-Riverieres, St.-Hyacinthe, Victoriaville, Drummondville, Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Saguenay-Lac St-Jean and the surrounding areas. The coverage area includes more than 250,000 rural consumers currently unable to access cable television service. Last August, Look TV was granted a license to broadcast TV signals using the Multipoint Distribution System in Southern Ontario. The service will be tested throughout May and June. The commercial launch will occur in July and August. Initially, it will be available just in the greater Toronto area, with the service covering all of Southern Ontario within nine months. Look TV is partly owned by Teleglobe Media Enterprises. BOS of Montreal will handle advertising for Look TV. The agency won the business last month after a competition with three other agencies. BOS handles advertising for Microcell Communications of Montreal, which is also partly owned by Teleglobe. Opsis Communications & Marketing of Montreal is handling PR for Look TV.
