SANOFI GIVES MARKETING DEPARTMENT A BOOST

Sanofi of Markham, Ont. has beefed up its marketing team in anticipation of the launch of new products. Douglas Reynolds has joined the company as marketing and sales vice-president. Most recently, he was marketing director at Hoffman-LaRoche Ltd. Pat Kotylak is now at Sanofi as market access director. Previously she was government affairs and professional relations manager at Zeneca Pharma Inc. Sanofi recently launch Fraxiparine, a drug for the prevention and/or treatment of blood clots. Sudler & Hennessey/Gall Inc. of Toronto handles advertising for Fraxiparine. Sanofi is currently awaiting approval for two other drugs: Plavix and Avapro. Plavix is for the prevention of second heart attacks, and Avapro is for the treatment of hypertension. Anderson Advertising of Toronto will handle advertising for Plavix. An agency hasn't been assigned to the Avapro business. Sanofi markets pharmaceuticals in Canada in the areas of thrombosis, rheumatology, oncology and pain management. Its global head office is in Paris, France.
