The Outdoor Advertising Association of Canada presented its 1997 Billi awards last night in Toronto. The awards recognize art directors and copywriters for creative excellence in outdoor advertising design in English Canada. BBDO Canada of Toronto walked away with two gold awards and one silver, while its Vancouver office won a bronze award. The agency won the awards for work it did for Federal Express and BCTel. Palmer Jarvis DDB (formerly Palmer Jarvis Communications) snagged two silver awards and one bronze for work it created for Playland. The agency also took a Billi award in the public service category for a Crime Stoppers campaign. Leo Burnett Co. of Toronto won a bronze award for work it did for Procter & Gamble. An ad for Evian Source de France was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The ad was created by Harrod & Mirlin of Toronto. Hall of Fame winners are previous Billi gold winners and include designs that have won various creative awards that preceded the Billi awards. The creative must be more than five-years-old. The OAAC is a national organization of outdoor companies.
