MICROSOFT TO OFFER MAC EDITION OF OFFICE SUITE
By Adnews Staff
Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, Washington will introduce the Macintosh edition of its Office 98 software suite to the North American market by the end of March. Features of the program include a drag and drop installation that requires users to simply drag a folder from their CD to their hard drive to install Office 98 and self-repairing applications that replace accidentally deleted system files. Grammar and spell checks are done automatically. The new Macintosh edition of Office 98 includes new versions of Word, Excel and the PowerPoint presentation graphics program. Also included is Outlook Express, an Internet e-mail and newsgroup program and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 for Macintosh. In Canada, advertising plans for the suite are currently being worked out. The Communiqué Group creates Canadian advertising for Microsoft, while Media Buying Services does media buying and Hill & Knowlton handles PR. All agencies are based in Toronto.
