FRANCHISE AWARD WINNERS

The Canadian Franchise Association recently presented its annual Frankie awards to honor excellence in Canadian advertising among franchise companies. Midas Canada of Calgary and Comac Foods of Calgary walked away big winners. Midas won two gold Frankies in the magazine and newspaper advertising categories, as well as two silver Frankies in the outdoor and newspaper categories. Comac Foods received two gold awards in the corporate identification and point-of-purchase categories and three bronze Frankies in the corporate identification, brochure and direct marketing categories. Advertising for Midas is done by Ogilvy & Mather Advertising of Toronto. Cameron Communications of Calgary handles Comac's advertising. Other gold winners were Mr. Lube, Goodgoll Curtis Inc.; Grand & Toy, Doner Canada; Baroli Caffe, New York Fries and First Choice Haircutters, The Chris Hughes Company; One Hour MotoPhoto & Portrait Studio, Price & Associates; Mandarin Restaurant, Guerrilla; Jungle Jim's Restaurants; Yogen Fruz, Concept Communications and Chris Desjardins; Thrifty Car Rental, MJM Productions; Moneysworth & Best Quality Shoe Repair, Walsh & Associates Advertising. Wendy's Restaurants of Canada walked away with top honors when it was presented with the Award of Excellence for outstanding franchisee/franchisor relations. The award is presented to the franchisor who has developed and maintains an outstanding relationship with its franchisees.
