AIRLINES BATTLE FOR WINTER TRAVELERS

Two airlines in Canada are going head-to-head in encouraging winter travel. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines launched a seat sale this week reducing its fares to European destinations by up to 55%. Air Canada launched a winter seat sale last week, offering travelers a 55% discount on air fares to worldwide destinations. During KLM's promotion, tickets must be purchased by Dec. 15 for travel from Canada between Jan. 5 and March 31. The sale applies to destinations in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Norway, Sweden, the UK, the Ukraine and Switzerland. KLM is not promoting its seat sale with any advertising because its flights are sold mainly through travel agents. When KLM does advertise, campaigns are created by Allard Communications of Montreal.
