PNMD HITS A HOMERUN WITH EXPOS

Montreal-based PNMD Communications was handed the Montreal Baseball Club account earlier this month. The club owns the National League baseball team, the Montreal Expos. The agency was given the business without a review because it has clients who work with the club, such as Labatt Breweries and Pharmaprix, so it was a natural fit, agency president and CEO Raymond Boucher told Adnews last week. The job of PNMD is twofold. The agency will promote the building of a new baseball stadium in downtown Montreal and will support the team in the 1998 season. A campaign to promote the stadium will begin before Christmas. The media portion of the campaign will be handled in-house. The incumbent on the business is Cossette Communication-Marketing of Montreal.
