MEXICO'S AD REVENUE JUMPS

Mexico's two major broadcasters, TV Azteca and Televisa, have reported strong third quarter results and say ad revenue growth over the next year looks good. TV Azteca saw a profit of $51 million(US), an increase of 94% from the same period a year ago. Revenue rose 55% to $112 million. The broadcaster went public last August. Televisa's revenue rose 2.6% to $428 million, while net profit was $165 million. Last year, the broadcaster reported a small loss. Although political and private pension plan ads will be non-existent next year, both broadcasters believe revenues will be driven by economic improvement and the soccer World Cup tournament being held next summer.
