SCHWAB & PIQUETTE PICK UP TWO
By Adnews Staff
Schwab & Piquette Communications of Toronto has beefed up its pharmaceutical expertise with two new account wins. The agency will now be handling advertising for Astra Pharma's Pain Division, which markets dental anesthetics Astracaine, Xylocaine and Emla, as well as Naropin, which is used in hospitals. Schwab & Piquette was given the business last month after a competition with three other agencies. The incumbent on the account is SMW Advertising of Toronto. The agency will launch three campaigns for Astra Pharma's various products in January using medical journals. Emla, which is a behind-the-counter anesthetic used by consumers and the medical community for pre-injection pain and for minor dental surgery, will be promoted in medical journals and to consumers.
Separately, Schwab & Piquette was also given the Gemzar account from Eli Lilly. Gemzar is a chemotherapy drug. The agency was given the business without a review, based on its pharmaceutical experience. A campaign will be launched in February.
