UPS CHOOSES RAPP COLLINS COMMUNICAIDE
By Adnews Staff
United Parcel Service Canada of Mississauga, Ont. has given its direct and database marketing business to Rapp Collins Communicaide of Toronto. The agency won in a final shootout with MacLaren McCann of Toronto. The two were chosen from a long list of five, then each was given a project from UPS. The incumbent on the business was Ogilvy & Mather Direct of Toronto. The agency resigned the business earlier this year because it felt there were account management differences with the courier company, marketing director Joe Tavares told Adnews yesterday. Rapp Collins' first campaign will be launched in December, using an Olympic theme to promote UPS' sponsorship of the 1998 Olympic games in Japan. Ammirati & Puris/Lintas handles advertising for UPS while Edelman Public Relations does PR. Both agencies are based in Toronto.
