CANADA TRUST GIVES AWAY HANDHELD COMPUTERS
By Adnews Staff
Canada Trust is giving away eight Compaq PC Companion handheld computers this week as part of a promotion by the bank to encourage customers to use its EasyWeb Internet banking system. The EasyWeb service lets customers use the Net to get up-to-date account balances, transfer funds between accounts, pay bills and download account information into personal finance software programs such as Quicken or Microsoft Money. "Making financial services more convenient for our customers is key," said Chuck Hounsell, vice-president of distribution development at Canada Trust. "Customers who use handheld computers appreciate the flexibility of being able to use them to access their accounts through EasyWeb." The Compaq PC Companion is a 4"x7" machine that runs the Windows CE operating system and comes bundles with pocket versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and an information manager. It can be connected to a standard desktop PC to allow information between the two machines to be synchronized.
