UPS TOUTS QUICK SERVICE

United Parcel Service (Canada) of Mississauga, Ont. is promoting the advantages of one of its express services in its latest campaign that began last week. The main element of the campaign is two 30-second TV ads promoting the company's Express Early A.M. service, which guarantees early morning delivery across North America by 8 a.m. and proof of deliver for guaranteed shipments. One commercial depicts a businessman who decides to attend a party the night before an important 8:30 a.m. meeting. To make sure he does not miss the meeting, he sends himself an Express Early A.M. envelope. The morning after the party the man hears the knock of the UPS delivery man at 7:50 a.m. and he rises to attend the meeting. The second spot shows a determined UPS delivery person attempting to complete a delivery in Chinatown to someone with a very common name. After the UPS person finds the recipient at "Wong, Wong and Wong," the shipper uses UPS OnLine, the courier company's worldwide desktop shipping software to track the shipment and is able to confirm delivery through the electronic image of the Chinese characters that make up "Ms. Wong's" signature. The ads are being aired in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. The TV portion of the campaign is being supported with transit and street kiosk ads in the same cities, and radio ads in Toronto and Vancouver. The campaign was created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto.
