The Canadian Olympic Association is trying to raise money to support its Olympic athletes going to the games in Nagano, Japan. The group launched an Ontario fundraising lottery this week, offering ticket buyers a chance to win a $2,000,000 grand prize. In addition, Early Bird draw prizes include a 1998 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, $100,000 in cash and a trip for four to the Olympic Games. Other prizes include twenty-two 1998 Chrysler cars, 3,000 Roots Official 1998 Olympic Awards jackets, 3,000 Kodak Advantix cameras and 2,000 Panasonic portable CD players. The lottery is being promoted using TV, radio and print ads, as well as direct mail. The campaign was created by 2 Door Communications of Toronto. The COA supports its athletes through the Athlete Fund, National Sport Centres grants, National Sports Federations grants and Athlete Career Centres.
