PLAYDIUM TO OPEN TORONTO COMPLEX

Toronto-based Playdium Entertainment Corp. will open an interactive playground in Toronto by the beginning of 1999. Called Playdium Toronto, the entertainment complex will be 50,000 square feet in size and feature virtual reality and interactive games, as well as simulators based on sports games. Playdium Toronto will be geared to young adults and corporate clientele, featuring a themed restaurant and bar and a "Members Only" VIP lounge with exclusive attractions. This is the second Playdium entertainment centre. The first opened in Mississauga, Ont. in August, 1996. It is targeted to children, teenagers, families and corporate clients. Advertising for Playdium is done by X Unlimited Corp. (formerly Boom Design) of Toronto. Temple Scott & Associates of Toronto handles PR. Playdium plans to open entertainment complexes in Vancouver and Calgary as well. It will announce the dates shortly. In 1996, Playdium formed a partnership with GameWorks SKG to develop the entertainment centres. The managing members of Gameworks include the subsidiaries of Sega Enterprises, DreamWorks SKG and Universal Studios.
