CANZINE 97

Broken Pencil magazine of Toronto will host its annual festival of Canadian alternative magazines in Toronto on Oct. 5. Called Canzine 97, the show will feature a magazine fair showcasing over 100 publications and comics from across the country. There will be a seminar on hand stitching and binding, and a panel discussion on responding to the mainstream feeding on the underground press. Live bands will also be highlighted, including Braino and Fell Gang. The show is produced with the support of the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council. Sponsors of Canzine include: Rickard's Red, Doormouse Distribution, Coach House Books and Printing, Artsweek, Brave New Waves, Exclaim!, CIUT 89.5 and Insomniac Press.
